We are expecting an increase in available shifts over the Christmas and New Year period, so now is a great time to join the team. Shifts worked on public holidays attract public holiday penalty rates.

About the Roles
As a SIL Community Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support to clients living in DLi's Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes across metropolitan Adelaide. SIL supports clients to live as independently as possible in their own home, with support available around the clock.

 

Please note: these are SIL positions. They do not include shifts in our Social and Community Participation (SCP) programs.

 

You will work collaboratively with clients, families and support networks to help people achieve their goals, maintain their independence and participate meaningfully in their communities.

 

Support may include:

■       Personal care and daily living assistance

■       Supporting clients to access and take part in their community

■       Transport to appointments and activities

■       Medication assistance and health supports

■       Supporting clients with complex health needs

■       Building capacity and independent living skills

■       Meal preparation and cooking activities

■       Accurate record keeping and progress notes

 

Shift Availability
Shifts range from 2 to 8 hours, alongside passive sleepover shifts. We are seeking workers who can support a variety of shifts, including:

■       Morning shifts

■       Day shifts

■       Afternoon and evening shifts

■       Passive sleepover shifts

Availability for passive sleepover shifts is a key part of these roles. Please tell us about your sleepover availability when you apply.

 

As these are casual positions, shifts are allocated based on client needs and operational requirements, and no minimum hours can be guaranteed.

 

About You
To be successful in these roles, you will demonstrate:

■       A person-centred approach to support

■       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

■       Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities

■       The ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries

■       Reliability, and flexibility to work across a 24/7 roster, including passive sleepovers

■       Experience supporting people with disability and/or complex support needs

 

Essential Requirements
■       Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), Disability, Nursing, Community

Services or a related qualification

■       Current NDIS Worker Screening Check

■       Current Working with Children Check

■       Current First Aid and CPR Certificate

■       Current Manual Handling Training

■       Medication Administration certification

■       Mealtime Management training

■       Infection Control training

■       Evidence of Australian working rights

■       Current Australian Driver's Licence

■       Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle available for work purposes

 

Highly Desirable
■       Current Epilepsy Management Training, including Midazolam administration

■       Current CPAP training and experience

■       MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) or CPI training

■       Safe Environments for Children and Young People training

■       Experience supporting clients with complex medical and behavioural support needs
