Female Community Support Worker

 About Us

disAbility Living Inc. (DLi) was established in 1984 to provide long term accommodation and support for young adults. We have provided supported accommodation for people with disabilities in South Australia for more than 25 years. In 2010, the organisation began providing respite and transitional accommodation support and in 2013, began providing support to children.


We believe in the inherent right of people with disabilities to have choice and control over their lives and support their right to be active citizens enabling them to participate fully in the community.

 

Our dedicated team comprises of highly competent and specifically trained support workers, each uniquely chosen and trained to cater to the individual needs of our participants.

Your Experience

You will bring a person-centred approach, placing the person at the centre of their service. You will work collaboratively, tailoring your approach to the needs of the individual. You will quickly establish rapport with clients and their families and have clear and effective communication skills. You will have excellent attention to detail and accuracy in case notes and record-keeping. You will be comfortable supporting adult clients with intellectual/physical disabilities, high medical needs, mental health diagnosed or high behavioural concerns.

 

Special requirements

This role requires a female Support Worker who can assist our Client both in their home and in the community. Some special requirements for this role are as follows:

  • You will have experience with supporting clients with complex and challenging behaviours
  • You will have current CPI training (MAPA or Blue Card Training)
  • You are willing to work in the presense of the client's family members
  • You are willing to use your personal vehicle to transport the client (Kilometers used whilst with the client will be reimbursed which covers: decline in value, registration
    insurance, maintenance, repairs and fuel costs.)
  • Willing to enter into a swimming pool as the client requires assistance to enter and exit the pool
  • Ability to speak Spanish (highly regarded but not essential)
  • This is a 2:1 support shift where you will be working alongside another support staff who primarily speaks Spanish.
  • Willing to work in Woodcroft

Your Availability

 

Current shifts available for our client are as follows:

  • Wednesday - 10am-4pm
  • With the possibility of hours increasing

Recruitment Process

Role Requirements

  • A minimum Certificate III in Disability or equivalent
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening
  • Current CPI training (within 12 months)
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Manual Handling certificate
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia
  • Medication Administration Certificate, Basic Continence Care and Infection Control will be highly preferred and if not, willingness to obtain these will be required.
  • A full Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Ability and willingness to drive and use pool vehicle or own vehicle
